Located approximately seventy kilometers from Sault Ste. Marie, Bruce Mines or the "Jewel of Lake Huron" is a small town bursting with local history. Originally founded in 1864, as a small copper mine, the settlement of Bruce Mines soon grew in popularity to become one of the largest settlements in Canada. this small town is extremely rich in local history and is proud to have housed not only the first copper mine in Canada but a government dock building as well. 


This colorful and interesting past is highlighted in the Bruce Mines Museum which contains over of 7000 local artifacts from Bruce Mines and surrounding area. Located off of Highway 17, this museum is a must see and serves as an accurate and interesting reminder of the rich history of Canada as well as Bruce Mines.
